Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron for the Nintendo DS and PSP presents an expanded new take on the classic Star Wars Battlefront gameplay. The PSP provides the deepest customization options ever seen in a Star Wars Battlefront title, allowing players to personalize and build their character with more weapons and items than ever before, including the weapons characters carry into battle, the armor they wear on their backs, their species, gender, appearance and physical strengths. Players can also unlock hundreds of other items and bonuses to help even the odds. On DS, players will experience unique class-based gameplay that allows them to outfit their characters with pre-determined weapon armaments, including heavy weapons, blasters and even lightsabers. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (TFU) is a lucasarts video game and part of the The Force Unleashed multimedia project; other TFU project developers and publishers include Dark Horse Comics, Lego, Hasbro, and Del Rey Books. The project bridges the two Star Wars trilogies and introduces a new protagonist, Starkiller, as Sith Lord Darth Vader’s secret apprentice. The game’s development spanned four years and involved substantial collaboration between lucasarts and Industrial Light & Magic. The Force Unleashed was developed for the playstation 2, playstation 3,Wii,and Xbox 360 consoles and on the iphone OS, second-generation N-Gage,Nintendo DS, playstation Portable, and Java-equipped mobile phone handhelds. The game was released in North America on September 16, 2008; in Australia and Southeast Asia on September 17, 2008; and in Europe on September 19, 2008. A playstation 3 and Xbox 360 demo became available for download on August 21 and lucasarts also plans to offer downloadable content for those two systems. Reviews offered mixed response, praising TFU for its compelling story, robust physics, and impressive art, but also citing frustrations with gameplay. Despite these mixed reviews, the game was a bestseller in the United States and Australia.
